That was healthy?

So I’m working on the Let’s Get Cooking badge with my Girl Scout troop and we decided to do blindfold smoothies!  Why because I found some awesome smoothie mixtures that I know the girls won’t try and I want them to see that different things mixed together can taste real good.  Purple Cow – blueberries, grape juice and yogurt – that one is a yummy easy.  Bunny special – carrots, ice cubes, pineapple juice and yogurt – orange magic – fresh yummy!  Green smoothie – banana, orange, lettuce leaves and spinach – yes spinach!  Believe it or not this is so refreshingly yummy you won’t believe it’s good for you!  Can’t wait to see what the girls say about trying these yummy smoothies!  I’ll post pictures later.

The other thing we’re doing is BREAD!  Yup I’ve made up about 4 lbs of bread dough and we’re going to teach the girls how to knead, roll and have fun with bread.  How great will it be for them to see that this liquid paste will turn into bread!  I bet some of them have never even seen bread being made so I can’t wait to see how they react to touching raw dough!

Alright I’ll let you know what they think, but until then – get your blenders out and let me know what types of concoctions you can come up with!  YUM!

UPDATE – so the girls so much fun with the blindfolded smoothies!  Lots of them liked the Purple Cow, but a few of them found the Bunny special and Green smoothie interesting.  Here two of my Scouts are sampling the Bunny special. So after all the girls tried the smoothies I had my Co-leader sample it as well.  Here she is waiting for her drink!LOL!  The Scouts loved learning dough techniques.  They kneaded the dough and made rolled snakes that turned into pretzels.  We put the pretzels onto wax paper so we could put their names on them.  Well if I said everything was great it wouldn’t be a Girl Scout event!  As hard as I tried to cut the wax paper down it still caused a ton of smoke in the Anderson House.  So smokey we had to call the fire department in case the alarms went out.  10 mins of waving trays to get the smoke out the window and the bread was done!  Not the BEST, but the girls had a GREAT time – and honestly that’s all that matters!

So like I told the girls – start trying different mixtures of smoothies to try to get your balanced fruit and vegetables everyday – you might find it taste better than you think!
