Live Life and spread some joy!

I was watching Youtube the other day and on Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts channel she had this amazing card she was planning on giving to the Stampin Up Advisory Board.  Here’s a link to her card:

When I saw this card I knew it was the card I needed to make for a few friends who need a little pick me up!  Here’s the card I came up with.

When I tell you this card was easy and fun to make – the FUN part was the best!  Can you tell that this card is a shadow box type of card?

The flower was made from 8 Mixed Blossom punches in Cherry Cobbler and 2 flowers from the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge that were stuck onto a pin and held together using a brad.  The edges of the flowers are inked using Early Expresso and then sprayed with alcohol/champagne mist. Dawn uses the Flower Fun Big die in her video which I don’t have but I was able to use my resources and come up with about the same thing!

The card itself is cut 7 X 10 1/4 from Basic Black, the inside piece is from my black and white supply.  I used the Apothecary framelit to cut the Basic Black and then two oval framelits to cut he Crumb Cake and off-white card stock.  The sentiment stamped in Staz-On came from a stock supply of stamps I had purchased from Michaels and then I added Jewels to it.

I love how this card came out.  The biggest issue I had with this card was it’s size!  7 X 10 1/4 doesn’t fit into your average envelope, so I had to make my own envelope.  Next time I’ll adjust the card so it will fit easier.  Maybe if I had the envelope punch board I could have done something better.  Oh well – on to the wishlist!

If you’ve been thinking about becoming a Stampin Up demonstrator, they have an AWESOME program for those of us with a bunch of stuff for only $25.  Contact Betty Boop – she’s got the specifics at the bottom of this post

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Have a Magical Day!

Inspiration comes anywhere

So the other day I’m at my hairdressers and there on the wall.

I knew I had to make this picture into a card and I knew exactly what stamp sets I was going to use!  Best of Flowers stamp set.

These cards might look the same, but actually they’re a little different.  For both cards I used the En Francais as a background stamp, but with the first card I used my Versa Mark and clear embossing powder.  The second card I used the White Craft ink and then used clear embossing powder, but I embossed before the White Craft ink dried.  I actually think this made a neat effect to the background.

The main piece is Crumb Cake cardstock and I stamped the bouquet in Staz-on in the center.  Using my Aqua painter I used a combination of Primrose Petal and Raspberry Ripple to color the roses and Wild Wasabi for the leaves.  I used a stamp from the retired Charming stamp set that has words like Create, Inspire, Share that I thought would be great for this card.  The ribbon is the retired Raspberry Ripple stitched ribbon that I love.

I couldn’t believe how close to the picture I got.  I used this card for an anniversary and inspirational card.  I hope it inspires you to try to use your White Craft ink in different ways!

Love this Swallowtail!

So I had to buy the Swallowtail stamp from Stampin up!  It is a _huge detailed stamp that I’ve seen amazing cards done with.  If you’re interested in this stamp, please check out Gallery for ideas!

I was trying to compete in a Freshly Made Sketch challenge, but time got away from me and I didn’t submit it in time.  However I had to make this card!

So first I cute the base card in Island Indigo.  Then I pulled paper from Sycamore Street DSP with all types of colors in it.  It really inspired me like the flowers this summer. I reached for my Swallowtail stamp and knew I only wanted to stamp 1/2 of it, like the butterfly had landed on my card to take a nap.

I stamped the Swallowtail image in Versa Mark and then used black embossing powder to really make the detail stand out.  Using my Aqua painter I colored the butterfly with coordinating colors from the Sycamore DSP – Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petal and Rich Razzleberry.  I cut a piece of Vellum, used the D’vine Swirl embossing folder and ran it thru the Cuttlebug.  This piece lightened the DSP behind and really makes the Swallowtail stand out!  I wrapped the card with Summer Starfruit stitched ribbon so the knot looks almost like the antenna of the butterfly.

I love the look of this card!  Bright colors and amazing detail with the Swallowtail.  I can’t wait to see what else I can make with this stamp!

Starfruit Surprise

The other day I was at one of many doctor visits flipping thru a magazine and there I found pictures after pictures with color combinations of Summer Starfruit, Black, white and either Gray or Crumb Cake.  I quickly came home and pulled together an awesome card.

I made this thank you card for a parent who came to my Troop meeting to teach the scouts about transforming art from paper to actual figurines.  He created these great stories with his Travelin Bugz.   Here’s his site:

I made this card using Sycamore Street paper from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  The sentiment was stamped using the Kindness matters stamp set.  I finally watched enough videos to figure out how to make a matt using punches.

I’m still not sure Summer Starfruit has become a favorite yet, but the combination is interesting. I’m just happy I stepped outside my color combo box! How about you??

Have a Magical Day!
