Disney with my Girl Scouts

WE MADE IT!  That’s right my Girl Scout troop made it to Disney. After two years of planning and fundraising we raised over $5,000 and made it to Walt Disney World!

What an amazing trip is all I have to say. Four days, four parks, 8 scouts awesome adventure.

Here are some highlight pictures

The Troop participated in a Youth Education Series program that Disney sponsors specifically to learn how Walt Disney took his drawings and made them into movies.  They showed us the progression of movie making, the movie making process from storyboard music to production and even taught us how to draw Mickey by an imagineer.

Overall it was an amazing experience, some girls tried rides or foods they never would have.  I challenged all of them to try a new Japanese candy from the Department store in Epcot.  We saw the Mickeys Not So Scary Haloween parade and wore costumes and stayed up until midnight on the clock at Cinderellas Castle.

To say they were excited is an understatement. Of course we met a bunch of other Girl Scouts, none had heard of the YES program before.

So where are we off to next?  Niagara Falls!

Im specifically showing you all of this because for 8 years they asked to go to Disney and every year I said no.  When we found the YES program the girls set their goal, they worked REALLY hard and achieved it.  It wasn’t a perfect trip, but it was a huge accomplishment for these young ladies!  Set goals for yourself! Know that it won’t be perfect and it will be a struggle, but believe in yourself and make it happen!

I believe you can do it!  Have a Magical Day!

Getting our Mickey Ears on

With a Disney trip less than 60 days away that means the Lalas get their DIY going!  Since our trip will be during the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party we knew we had to come up with some fun Mickey ears.

We found an ears template on Pinterest that uses think foam sheets and poly fiber to make the ears.  Then you cover it with character created with fabric.

Thats right – SEWING!  Hand and machine sewing.  Here’s a few that we’ve finished so far.  Here’s Mad Hatter, Jack Skellington, Pluto and Beauty & the Beast.

MD is working on Jasmine and I think Pluto is getting a touch up.  Love the details.  We made the teapot button by printing off a template, coloring them and then covering them in Crystal Effects.  The spider web on Jack was highlighted with white glitter glue.  MD had sewed each of the outfits on B&B!

the excitement is brewing!

Have a Magical Day!

Tim Holtz Tag – December

I can’t believe December is almost over.  Here at the Lala house we are enjoying another unusually warm winter day.

Being on holiday vacation gave me time to make my December tag for Tim Holtz challenge.  Here’s Tim’s tag.

Tim was focusing on the embossing of acetate and the texture on the reindeer, both I found really cool.  Here’s my version.

I have to say the reindeer threw me for a loop, but Hubby came thru with a Disney Cricut cartridge with Bambi and his father.  Tada reindeer!  I really was inspired with natural pieces; found some pinecone and branches outside and then I broke down a pinecone for the bottom runner.  For my last tag of the year, I’m very happy with how it came out.  Bring out 2015!!

Have a Magical Day!

I Love Surprises!

Disney is a perfect place to give surprises.  Besides the autograph books, we surprised the girls with breakfast at Cinderella’s castle.  MD loved it. Every princess commented on their books.  We had a great meal.  I had the Healthy Choice; which was Greek yogurt, oatmeal, fruit and egg whites.  Perfect for someone like me whose trying to lose weight.  Steve our royal server was wonderful.   Here are the pictures of the girls with the princess – Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Ariel and Jasmine.

MD got a wand and J got a sword.  Of course it turned cut throat toward the end of the meal!IMG_1180

The demand for more rides and fun was too much so we were off!  I hope you have a Magical Day!

Be Our Guest – inspiring!

I knew the Be Our Guest restaurant would be a tough meal to get.  So we tried to do a quick service and had some very pleasant results.  First let me say how original the food ordering kiosk is.  You order your food, are handed a rose beeperIMG_1123

Then you go sit down in one of many amazing rooms and your waitress comes with your food.

There was so much in this restaurant that was inspiring!  First the wall paper in the kiosk area was amazing.  As soon as I saw it I thought Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder after being dry embossed with Modern Mosaic folder!

If that’s not enough, here’s pictures of the Ballroom where we ate.

Oh and yes it was snowing outside!IMG_1127

J went into the West Wing and took these pictures.

In case you were wondering what we had – an AMAZING Croque Monsieur – Grilled sandwich of carved ham and Gruyere cheese.  It was SO good!  Plus here’s the cupcake MD got.

J took some other pictures of the Library where there was this beautiful statue of the Beast and Belle.  Thought you might want some more inspiration.

There were just so many things that inspired me here.  Just as you were leaving there two last things that you HAVE to see!!

If you’re going to Disney I’d tell you to definitely try to do a Quick Service Dining at this restaurant.  So yummy and inspiring!  I know I’ve posted a lot of pictures, but I had to share them because I thought they would inspire you as much as they did me!

Have a Magical Day!

I’m still here!

Sorry I’ve been mia lately.  We are getting ready for our Disney trip shortly so my crafting time is limited.  Also and sadly, while walking to prepare myself to try and keep up with Mr Don while at Disney I have torn a ligament in ny leg.  My chiropractor has advised bedrest and ice as much as possible which means I can’t go downstairs.

I did do some crafting before this happened and I will be posting more soon.  I’ve done some cool things with my Disney Mickey & Friends Cricut cartridge with MD for our resort window.  I will show you the final project in the window.

So dont fret, I will be posting more soon.  I also hope to start doing videos,  but right now rest for Disney.

I hope your summeris going well.  Have a magical day!

So I was posting a page everyone once in awhile when I figured I’d give you a whole bunch of them right away!

At this point the girls’ autograph book is almost done!  Just a few new pages added and it’s done!  I hope these pages give you inspiration.

Have a Magical Day!
