Changes Happen Everyday

Hey Everyone!

Changes happen every day here in Lala land.

My last post was introducing the two new boys in our lives Hans and Chewie.  For those of you who have had Guinea Pigs you know their health is a thin rope waiting for fate to snip.  Sadly that was the case for Hans who after a month with us lost his battle with a congenital illness.  He will be sadly missed.

We replaced Hans with a very chipper and happy Abyssinian Guinea Pig MD has named Philippe after the horse from Beauty and the Beast.  He’s definitely louder and happier than Chewie.  Everyday we listen to his squeaks for a good 10 mins while he waits unpatiently for his food.  They’re both definitely a pleasure except that we have to pick up poop two to three times a day.  The good news is I keeps me out of the kitchen so besides being on the Keto diet and going to the Y, I’ve been loosing weight!

Havent done much crafting lately which is very sad since I’ve just purchased the new Brusho Crystal Colours thru Stampin up. I can’t  wait to use them!  Background effects to a whole new level.

Still focusing on our Girl Scouts, but a larger focus on the camping/outdoor adventure group.  These young ladies are definitely putting me to the task.  This year’s goals are white water rafting, earning their whittling chip and possibly hatchet throwing.

I hope to do more posts but they’ll be on Guinea Pigs, diabetes, Girl Scout outdoor skills and crafting.  I hope you stay to learn more!

Have a Magical Day!

MD is an Ambassador!

It’s finally here!  MD is at the end of her Girl Scout journey, she is an Ambassador!  SO proud of her!  Here she is speaking in front of a room of adults with such confidence!  She is amazing!

I had had to make a card for her to show her how amazing and proud we are of her.  I saw this card done by Dawns Stamping Thoughts blog here – http://www.dawnsstampingthoughts.net/2015/10/christmas-card-featuring-wonderland-stamp-set-.html.  Dawn did an amazing card using the Wonderland stamp. I don’t have this stamp set, but I do have the Lovely as a Tree.

I stamped the large tree using Night of Navy. Then covering the paper with Versamark, I used Heat & Stamp powder in order to sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds all over the paper.  I wanted the second layer to be Night of Navy, but sadly I didn’t have any of the card stock, so I inked a piece of white card stock along the edge – Tada!  The base is Smoky Grey card stock and really ties the colors together.  The sentiment was stamped on velum  and heat embossed with Pewter powder.

This card is so beautiful. I can see it as a Christmas card easy!  So many possibilities!  Can’t wait to see what MD does these final two years in Girl Scouts!

As Time Ticks By

When school started my eldest daughter MD was asked by a teacher what she wanted to do after high school.  This question she thought was easy to answer, a Nurse, but then what kind of nurse – and she was stumped.  We’ve been crash watching Greys Anatomy so she sat back and watched the doctors and the different skills they used with their patients.  Sudden she spoke up and said ‘I want to be an OBGYN/Pediatrician!’

So now the leap to my art journal.  I was happy of her choice cuz we’ve always told the girls they could be anything they wanted to be.  As I started to work on my journal about timing going by and my baby growing up I found this great saying about being anything you imagine yourself to be and knew I had my inspiration!

I love the color combination or orange, purple and this blue together.  Makes me start to think of Fall coming.  The clock is from Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die and I purposely moved the clocks hand aside to show that time doesn’t matter.  Can you tell I’m having a tough time with my girls growing up? LOL!

So what do you imagine that you can do and do you really do it?

I hope this inspires you!  Have a Magical day!

Selfish Purchase!

So this week was hellishfor me!  Craziness at work and even more with Scouts.    By Thursday I had had enough.  I walked into Joannes with the goal of purchasing the Tim Holtz mixed media scissors.  Thats right shopping therapy and I hate shopping!!   The hope is to replace my Fiskar sewing scissors with these.   I had been looking for these scissors for weeks with no success.  But on this day there would be success!!

There on the wall were the scissors that would make me happy and there above them was a 40% off sale sign – BONUS!!  I had brought a coupon and now I didn’t have to use it.  That’s when I saw a Tim Holtz Clockworks stencil – what!  I hadn’t seen that stencil in any store and knew it would great with the Spellbinder Sprocket die I had bought months ago.  Hello coupon!

Well lets just say that shopping therapy was a complete success. Purchased both and spent $16. Less than the original cost of the scissors.

Yesterday I went to Tuesday Morning – I had heard they had scrapbooking supplies at discounted prices.  I have to say I thought this store was a Christian book store.  I was pleasantly surprised to see Tim Hotlz, 3 Gypsie, Graphic45 and Sizzix things at REALLY good prices.  Ok they weren’t current season, but still great stuff.  Unfortunately I left with nothing, but thought I’d pass on the resource!

Well I’m off to start another page in my Art Journal.  Have a Magical Day!

Oversharing of my Girls!

Ok I don’t brag about my girls very often so I can keep this manly a craft only blog, but I have to do some bragging because they are so talented.

First – here’s picture of J dressed as Merlin from the Sword and the Stone.

Ok so she came home and asked me to make her this costume.  She had this huge idea of the gown and hat.  We actually found a robe at Savers that I was able to cut down to size for $5.  Then the hat I made out of poster board rolled up to look ENORMOUS on her head. I have to say I don’t think her teacher knew what hit her, but J got a really good grade on it!

Second – MD just got ANOTHER pair of ballet pointe shoes – not that I’m complaining.  I just had to show you her legs in these shoes.1012131118 1012131119

OMG.  She’s scaring me she’s so good at pointe right now.  Next year we’re letting her have a solo and I can’t wait.

I hope this put a smile on your face.  Have a Magical Day!

Happy Birthday MD!

Another year down and MD is another year older!  I can’t believe it 14!  Crazy!  Well as we all know MD LOVES Dr Who so I knew the only thing that needed to be on her card was a Blue Tardis!  For those of you who don’t know Dr Who is a time lord who travels in a UK Police box; i.e. the Tardis!

IMG_1133

Love this card!  I pulled a piece of Print Poetry DSP and Midnight Muse cardstock.  I stamped the Tardis from Feeling Sentimental set in Midnight Muse onto a piece of Crumb Cake.  Then using a sponge dauber I distressed the cardstock with Crumb Cake around the edge.

MD loved this card!  She was so happy to see the blue Tardis on her card!

I hope it gives you an idea of uses for this stamp set!  Have a Magical Day!

Dance your Butt Off!

So if you any little girl between the ages of 3-18 you were probably at a dance recital in the last few weeks.  Ours was rehearsal on Friday and the recital on Sunday.  Lets just say it was a very long weekend and we are all exhausted. Before you start to question, no I don’t dance, but in true Lala fashion I am the back stage hand who coordinates the stage performance.  Whatever it takes to make sure my girls have an awesome recital!

So here are some pictures of some awesome dances and the hope that their costumes inspire you!

Craziness!

So most of you know we’re Girl Scouts here at the Lala house, well tonight is a big Sweetheart Dance!  Which means Mr. Don takes the girls to a dance and while they dance around he shoots the s#$% with the other dads and I take care of the food in the kitchen!

The girls have been waiting for this event for some time – dresses purchased, matching shoes and accessories have been organized, hair has been planned and flowers have been ordered – excitement.

Hopefully in the AM I’ll have pictures posted of each girl, but until then I’ve spent the morning running around to nail appts and dance classes.  I have about an hour until GO time to say hello and start some conversation about the Stampin Up color announcement.

I’ve posted the announcement in a previous post, but all I’ve been seeing on blogs are people complaining about this color retiring and this color coming back.  Not to mention the excitement of free shipping from SU – I have to be honest I didn’t even know who Mr. Brown was until I saw a picture of the UPS guy under it.  Sorry – I try only to use the US Postal Carrier with Mr. Don being a carrier – have to keep food on my table!

Now I don’t think I’m going to hoarder, I mean stock up on any retiring colors because I’m happy with every color old or new.  However you should certainly take advantage of the free shipping and even check out the clearance pages on SU because I hear there’s Blushing Bride and Pear Piazza ribbons out there for only $3.59.  I’m curious about the possible combination of Smokey State and Summer Starfruit because I keep seeing it in all the magazines out there.  It’s just all crazy!

Well just thought I’d jump and say hello.  Now I’m off to J’s hair and take a quick nap.  Tomorrow I’ll post their pictures from the dance.  I’ve already made 2 new cards that I think you’ll like and I’ve just picked up the Owl punch which I can’t wait to make tulips with!!

Watch this video to see how! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPIYfxTQo2c  Actually if you pinterest owl punch you can find tons of stuff.  I have a board just for this punch and I didn’t even have it yet! http://pinterest.com/tinalala22/stampin-up-owl-punch/

Well I hope these posts inspire you out of your crazy day!  Have a Magical Day!

Did you see the Kids Choice Awards!

Ok so here at the Lala household the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards are equal to the Grammy’s or the Oscars, but on a kids level!  Every year for a few years we’ve done an awesome party/sleepover.  This year was no different.  Nine girls between the ages of 10 – 16!  Craziness!!

So I started with Orange Blimps – made from rice krispie treats.IMG_0877

Green GAK! IMG_0874

Which is so easy – glue, Borax and water!!!IMG_0868 IMG_0869

We even made some yummy Green Goo punch – which I didn’t take a picture of it, but it’s just Lime sherbet and Sprite.

The night started with Disney themed Apples to Apples.IMG_0878

Here’s the ladies watching the show.  IMG_0881

They had so much fun!!

We ended the night with, of course Disney themed Headbands!!

Bed around 2am!  But it was so worth it because in the AM Mr. Don made his huge batch of yummy crispy bacon!IMG_0888

So when you’re watching the Grammy’s or the Oscars think of the Lalas and all the fun we have!

Have a Magical Day!
